Not coming home... :(

Willow started choking 15 minutes before Michael arrived at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital to pick her up.  They had her sedated and were in the process of scoping her with a tube and camera when he walked in....

I am praying that somehow they will find a reason and solution to her choking issues, but I really doubt it since she has been scoped before...   I can't believe this is happening.  And poor Michael will either have to come all the way home without her or stay in a hotel...

Either way, Willow is not coming home tonight...  I feel so sad.  :(

  5. Big hugs, Shana...for you and Willow. I'm sure Willow will be glad to hear Michael's voice, a pice of home for her. I'm so thankful she didn't start choking on the way home in the trailer. It could have been so tragic for her. Maybe their heads can figure something out with the new scope. Many heads are always better. And now there's so much more love tending to and caring for her. She'll be home soon. <3 Prayers and hugs.

  7. Shana, I'm so sorry to hear that Queen Willow isn't coming home today....I'm sure you are sad. Everything happens for a reason and she will come home!! Know that the choking episode happened there for a reason-- Hopefully they will figure it out and she will return home healthier and stronger!

  8. Willow choking could just be a blessing that you don't know about. They may find the problem and be able to help her - this hospital is the best, or the weather may be too dangerous for Michael to be driving pulling a horse trailer...there are so many scenarios. You and Willow have angels watching over you so...let them do their job. I think it's a huge bonus that if she had to have another choking episode it was at Rood & Riddle so they can see it and that it wasn't on the road home. Willow is in the best of hands....Gods.

  9. Oh Shana, I'm so sorry, but as has been said, maybe the docs at R&R will have something new to try for the choking. Sending love and prayers. Some "hugging time" with that cute little Gypsy boy might be comforting.

  12. Oh my friend, I am so sorry! I'll be praying for all of you. It would be fantastic if they can find what's wrong with her choking while she's there. It seems like the best facility to handle her during this episode. Hang in there. If you need to talk more, let me know! Lots of hugs! Lisa Renier

  13. Oh I am so sorry. If there is an answer to be found for her choking, they will find it. I wanted to tell you if Willow needs a place to stay on here that isn't the vet, I have a dear friend who has her own Thoroughbred farm, R&R is her vet as well (in fact she worked there at one time) and Willow could do some recuperation there if need be before she comes home. It's right near Keeneland and Calumet Farm, a beautiful and safe place. Just an option if you need something. All the best to you all.

  14. God has a plan, don't lose your faith! Maybe the entire reason she broke her leg was so that she would be in the right place at the right time!
Prayers for peace and comfort for you tonight and prayers for finding a solution to her choking problems.

  15. How sad. I am hoping this is nothing more than a complication. Was she intubated while working on her leg? If so, she could have suffered a tracheal injury and have swelling, a fistula or nerve injury. Hope they find the cause quickly.

  20. Things happen for a reason. Maybe this happened so they will find out why she has the choking problem. Still saying prayers for her.
